Our hormones are unique in that they signficant roles within our bodies that are necessary for daily function. When these hormones are produced in lower levels we feel the effects and we are never quite the same person we once were. These drops in hormone levels happen with age, surgery, or drugs and the main outcome is usually a negative one.

The standard for replacing hormones in women is often patented, and manufactured hormones. These hormones are not identical to the ones in our body. The objective with the Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement (BHRT) is to replace hormones with the exact ones that we are defecient in.These hormones are derived often from soy or yam and are chemically altered so that they match the ones in us. Our body can not tell the different and we can titrate doses until the desired level and result is reached.

Hormones play important roles in our body. The "Master" hormone from which all sex hormones are derived from is cholesterol. Cholesterol can be converted into progesterone,estrogen, testosterone, cortisol or dihydroepiandosterone (DHEA).

The cascade of hormones is quite intricate but balancing them are extremely important. Progesterone is converted into testosterone which can be further converted into estrogen. Females require more estrogen and progesterone, and less testosterone while males require more. Feeling tired, a lack of energy, night sweats and hot flashes are a result of these imbalances.
